This morning Alex Slowey continued our sermon series, looking together at 2 Corinthians called Jars of clay. Today, as we looked at 2 Corinthians 5:1-10, we heard how Paul longed for his eternal house with Jesus in heaven, and how that should cause us to live to please Jesus, our just judge…

Love in anguish

This morning Pete Watts continued our new sermon series, looking together at 2 Corinthians called Jars of Clay. Today, as we looked at 2 Corinthians 1:12-2:17, we heard how the Christian life is shaped by the grace of God who is completely trustworthy. We should therefore respond to one another with love and respond to one another with forgiveness…

2 Corinthians: Treasure in Clay Jars

Why does life feel so hard much of the time? And far from faith in Jesus making life easier, often it seems to make it harder – it certainly did for the apostle Paul. Nowhere else does he bare his soul in quite the way he does in 2 Corinthians. He describes his life as a clay jar – outwardly unattractive, fragile, broken. And yet he, and all believers in Jesus, have within that clay jar the incredible treasure that is the good news about Jesus. Over the spring term we’ll be learning what it means for us to have treasure in clay jars.

Looking ahead to 2018

Today, we joined again with our brothers and sisters at Emmanuel Church Bramcote for our all age service. As 2017 draws to a close and we look forward to 2018, Richard preached 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18. In the last sermon in this year’s Christmas series, we heard how the Bible teaches that Jesus will return, but not as a baby born in Bethlehem. Indeed when he comes again, all people will see him as he comes with great splendour and majesty…

Christmas Eve Service

T’was the day before Christmas, and all through the house, Richard was sharing some not so great poetry, that described an incredible message sent from God. This morning we joined our brothers and sisters at Emmanuel Church Bramcote as we looked at Luke 1:26-38 together…

It’s God’s work at Christmas. It isn’t a con!
Unlike all the other kings, Jesus’ reign will go on.
Jesus is God come to earth, it’s extraordinary.
The Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me.

Good News For The World

What are you ashamed of?  Are you ashamed of the good news?

The apostle Paul wasn’t.  And we don’t need to be either.  This week was Global Mission Sunday and we heard about Good News For The World from Romans 1:16-17.

We also did a double-whammy and made it a Reformation Day special too.  Because the gospel that set the world alight 500 years ago is still powerful to change the world today.
